Temporary email: frequently asked questions
The most common questions about temporary email and how Buzón temporal works.
- Is it really free?
- Yes. There’s no account and nothing to pay: open the page and use the address.
- How long does a temporary email last? Is it a 10-minute email?
- Longer: an hour from when it’s created, not 10 minutes. You can renew it at any time, and the countdown goes back to 60 minutes.
- What happens to my messages when it expires?
- They’re deleted together with the mailbox, and they can’t be recovered.
- Can I send email from a temporary email address?
- No. It only receives mail; you can’t reply or send from it.
- Do I need a password? Can someone else read my mailbox?
- You don’t need one. Your mailbox only opens in your browser: even if someone has the link, they won’t see your messages. Just keep in mind that anyone who knows the address can send mail to it.
- Why don’t I see attachments or images?
- To keep you safe. We don’t keep attachments, which can carry viruses, and we block the images companies use to tell whether you open their emails.
- Can I choose my address?
- Yes. Press “Choose a name” and type the part before the @: letters, numbers, dots, hyphens and underscores, up to 64. If it’s taken or reserved, try another.
- Can I create a temporary Gmail, Hotmail or Outlook address?
- No. @gmail.com, @hotmail.com and @outlook.com addresses are created by Google and Microsoft, and we don’t hand any out. If you only want variants of your own Gmail, add +something before the @ (your.name+shop@gmail.com): they reach your inbox, but the site sees your real address. If you’d rather not give it, use the one at the top.
- Does it work for Facebook, Instagram or Amazon?
- It depends on the site. Some, especially social networks and large shops, reject temporary addresses. Even when one is accepted, don’t use it for an account you want to keep: once the mailbox expires you can’t recover the password.
